Electro Glide 500 Specifications

Comparing the Hebb Electro Glide 500 to Budget Ebikes

Power –We use a beautifully machined 350 watt CNC brushless motor which is 40-50% larger and more
powerful than the popular 180-250 watt motors which are standard on European bikes and other popular
models. Many of these bikes use brushed motors which reduce the range by about 25%, and require periodic
brush replacement

Quiet – Our bigger motor strains less to do the same work.  This advanced motor is much quieter than the
external, brush motors found on most of the cheaper bikes.

Range – Range depends on a number of factors – the weight of the rider, terrain, and how much you pedal.
The average rider uses about 15 watt-hours per mile in riding an electric bike.  Our battery is rated at 37 volts,
10 amps, and thus has 370 watt hours (37 X 10).  Therefore, on an average ride, you will get 25 real miles on a
Hebb Electro Glide 500!  Budget bikes have 26 volt, 9 amp battery packs, which have 234 watt hours, or
maximum a range of about 16 miles -- about 36% less than our bikes.  Furthermore, lower-powered bikes have
to work harder which burns more battery power and further reduces range. Risa Hebb, 59 year old wife of
owner Bill Hebb, has gone 30 miles on her bike

Speed – Speed fundamentally depends on the voltage of the battery, the weight of the bike, as well as the
design of the system.  Our efficient 37V system will easily go 20 mph, with very little assistance.  Bikes using
the smaller batteries usually claim they will go 15 mph.  Keep in mind that our motor controller cuts off power
to the motor at around 20-21 mph, so in order to get to a higher speed it takes pedal power.

Front Shocks – A quality front fork transforms the ride into a glide. Cheap bikes rarely have this feature.  Our
bikes have adjustable high quality front shocks with 45mm travel.

Speedometer/Odometer – A Cateye display is standard on our bikes. This is a great feature that really comes
in handy, especially on longer rides (20+miles) before the gauge gets close to the yellow warning zone.

Shifters – Our advanced Shimano Nexus internal hub shifter replaces the derailleur found on most multi-speed
bikes.  It is quieter, maintenance free, and there is no greasy chain to deal with.  Easy to use, this also allows
the rider to shift gears without pedaling, particularly helpful when up shifting from 7th
 gear and want to take
off in 3rd
 gear.
