Scooter Safety
Your safety is our concern so please follow these safety rules:
- Avoid roadways, paths, or other areas that are used by motor vehicles.
- Wear an approved helmet at all times.
- Avoid large hills. This may overheat the motor.
- Avoid curbs, cobblestones, grates, and other rough or discontinuous surfaces.
- Never ride with more than one person on a scooter.
- Never ride your US ProDrive at dusk or at night without appropriate lights.
- Before each use, verify that there are no loose or missing parts, and that the brakes are working properly.
- Don't ride in wet or icy conditions. The US ProDrive is full
sealed against water and dust but the roads are much more slippery in
the wet.
- Don't stunt ride.
- Ride in control at all times.
- Never allow persons under 14 years of age to ride your US ProDrive electric scooter or electric bicycle.
- Never tie or hold your dog leash as you ride your bike or scooter while still connected with your pet.
Warnings:
- Scooters are wheeled vehicles. Like bicycling, skateboarding, and
in-line skating, riding a scooter can be dangerous even under the best
of circumstances. Serious injury or even death is possible.
- Always wear an ANSI or Snell approved helmet when riding
your scooter. Always keep the chinstrap securely buckled. Failure to
wear an approved helmet may result in serious injury or death.
- Wet weather impairs traction, braking, and visibility. The risk of accident is dramatically increased in wet conditions.
- Riding at dusk, after dark, or at times of poor visibility is dangerous and can result in serious injury or death.
- Failure to properly tighten the handlebar quick-release lever
may compromise steering action, which could cause you to lose control
and fall. Falling can cause serious injury or even death. Push up and
down on the handlebar to make sure that the lever is tight.
Top Kick Scooter Safety Tips
ALWAYS use a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads.
This is a small investment - only about $35 - and can instantly
eliminate almost two-thirds of possible scooter accidents, including
most of the most serious ones. In many states, provinces and regions
throughout the world, these are required by law!
Children under eight should always be supervised when using scooters.
Almost a third of all scooter-related injuries and accidents involve
children under the age of eight. As everyone knows, scooters are
capable of traveling very quickly, and children that age do not always
have the judgement or coordination to handle these high speeds. We do
not recommend electric scooters to anyone under 14 years of age.
Use scooters in a safe places.
Cars and scooters don't mix, especially for younger riders. Smooth,
paved surfaces are best - avoid bumpy, uneven, wet or rocky ones.
Schoolyards, parks, paved trails are examples of safe places to
"scoot"! And, on sidewalks, be especially careful for pedestrians, who
always have the right of way.
Always observe the basic rules of the road anywhere you use scooters.
As scooters can travel as fast as many other types of vehicles, motorized and non-motorized,
they too must observe the rules of the road. These include:
* Stop at every stop sign. Look left, right, and left again before proceeding.
* Stop at the end of the driveway. Look left, right, and left before entering the street.
* Use proper hand signals.
* Obey traffic signs and signals.
Do not ride a scooter at night.
When it is dark out, there are just too many things that can easily
upset your balance and cause you to fall. Therefore, no one should ride
scooters at night.
